Gabriel Garzón-Montano / Nicola Cruz / Tomasa del Real / Latin Bitma

On his debut LP, Jardín, Gabriel Garzón-Montano sings of the struggles and uncertainties of the many-layered game that is America today, from the specific doubt and double consciousness of the first-generation hustle, to the universal challenges of love, legacy, and exploring the maze of one's own mind. A child of immigrant parents - a child of Brooklyn, NY - Garzón-Montano’s aesthetic is an extension of his French-Colombian heritage, a pastiche of Bach sonatas, cumbia records, and the machine gun funk that echoes to this day from behind half-rolled tints up and down Nostrand Ave.
Born in France to Ecuadorian parents, Nicola Cruz is a producer, musician, DJ, and electronic music artist now based in Ecuador. He's played at music festivals around the world including Sonar (Argentina y Barcelona), Nuit Sonores (France), Trópico (México), Vive Latino (Mexico), BIME (Bilbao), Oslo World Music (Norway), Red Bull Music Academy (Chile), and Boiler Room (Tulum), among many others. Nicola’s tracks have been featured on tastemaker stations such as KEXP and KCRW as well as internationally. In his music, Nicola seeks to make the musical connection between the past and present, traditional and modern, and explores the local indigenous and ongoing South American movements.

In just a short amount of time, Tomasa del Real has grown from a highly sought-after tattoo artist to the queen of neo-perreo, revolutionizing reggaeton music. Her upcoming album, Bellaca del Año, will be released by Nacional Records on May 18th and features a number of prominent guests such as legendary Puerto Rican producer DJ Blass, brunOG, Toy Selectah, and Ulises Lozano, best known as one of the members of Kinky. Her first single from the album, "Barre con el Pelo," is to be released April 27th.

Latin Bitman is a DJ and producer whose music has a long history of high-profile syncs, including hit TV shows like Dexter, Weeds, Nikita, Nip Tuck, and 90210; advertising campaigns for brands such as Taco Bell, Coca Cola, and Verizon; plus video games including EA Sports FIFA, The Sims, and Need for Speed. Latin Bitman has performed at Lollapalooza, Vive Latino, LAMC, SXSW, and many other festivals around the world. Additionally, Latin Bitman has done official remixes for Diplo, Beastie Boys, Tom Tom Club, Manu Chao, and many more. Before he became a worldwide touring DJ, Latin Bitman was a professional surfer and became a serious contender on the world stage, representing his home country of Chile in the Olympic games of surfing in Huntington Beach, California.

His album Homies is slated for release later this year.

Systema Solar / Very Be Careful

Systema Solar is the phenomenal musical-visual collective from the Caribbean coast of Colombia. Systema Solar translates to solar system, which is just how the members of the group coexist. Through a number of cosmic run-ins between members of different backgrounds and influences, they fused together into an incredible creative synergy. KCRW says of the group, "Their records are an amalgamate of Afro-Caribbean and Colombian folk, stirred in with hip-hop and electronic beats that make you crave to see them live."

Adventure has never been a task for Very Be Careful. A Caribbean soul and a California heart have sustained two decades of ceaseless romp-downs and raucous times for L.A.’s vallenato veteranos, inciting 10s of 1000s of men, women, children, and even some wild animals, to boogie to the Colombian coastal beat. From the debaucherous streets of: Austin’s SXSW, Germany’s World Cup Tour ’06, L.A.’s Sunset Junction Street Fair; to the cultural pinnacles of: Chicago’s Summer Dance Series, New York’s Central Park SummerStage, L.A.s’ Grand Performances & Levitt Pavilion, London’s Hammersmith Apollo; colossal concerts: L.A. Sports Arena Cumbia Fest, Glastonbury Music Festival & Bestival UK, Fuji Rock Festival & Asagiri Jam Japan; clubs and hubs: N.Y.’s SOBs, L.A.’s HOBs, backyard BBQs, Very Be Careful has tamed the beasts within or unleashed the ones without, helping to popularize the beauty of the 1950s-1970s sound of Colombian vallenato and cumbia.

Jorge Drexler / Trending Tropics / ÌFÉ

Jorge Drexler is a musician, actor, and doctor, who won wide acclaim after becoming the first Uruguayan to win an Academy Award for composing the song "Al Otro Lado del Río" from The Motorcycle Diaries. The Latin Grammy-winning artist's newest album Salvavidas de Hielo will be out on September 22nd and was recorded entirely with guitars, all types of guitars, creating a warm, rhythmic, and attractive sound. Additionally, multiple elements of the guitar have been magically transformed into a unique band for this new project.

Trending Tropics is comprised of Eduardo Cabra and Vicente Garcia, who hail from diverse Caribbean countries: Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico. Their musical baggage is equally diverse, although the essence of Trending Tropics' music derives from Afro-Antillean and Caribbean roots that are entwined with the contemporary. Trending Tropics has no frontman or main star. The songs are collaborations with different musicians of diverse genres and styles.

ÌFÉ is a bold musical undertaking from Puerto Rico-based drummer/producer/singer Otura Mun. Mun, an Ifá priest or "Babalawo" in the Yoruba religion, that has been at the vanguard of the Puerto Rican music scene since arriving from Indiana in the late 1990s, producing critically-acclaimed albums and songs for many of the island's most important musical voices, including Mima, Cultura Profetica, and Calma Carmona. ÌFÉ's latest single "Umbo (Come Down)" is a musical invitation to the benevolent forces that be and draws from rhythms and incantations of sacred Yoruba praise songs.
